PandA researchers Prof. Rudolph, Prof. Nampoothiri, and 2010 PhD alumnus Amarin Ratanavis are part of a team lead by Profs. Washburn and Corwin at Kansas State University which has developed a new, energy-efficient gas laser.

The gas is contained within a hollow fiber, thereby providing the benefit of being a portable gas laser.

Its potential uses include distance measurements and identification of specific molecules in the Earth's atmosphere.
