Physics & Astronomy members share in Breakthrough Prize for ATLAS and the LHC

The $3M Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics for 2025 was awarded to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for results on fundamental particle physics from its second run from 2015 to 2024.

The ATLAS experiment at the LHC was awarded $1M, which was donated to the CERN & Society Foundation.

The list of awardees on the ATLAS experiment includes Prof. Sally Seidel and many of her current and former team members, namely current graduate students Andrew Gentry, Joey Sorenson, Easwar Narayanan, and Hijas Farook, former graduate student Aidan Grummer, former Research Engineer Martin Hoeferkamp, and former postdocs Konstantin Toms and Radek Novotny.
