Rouzbeh Allahverdi Promoted to Associate Professor

May 14, 2013

Rouzbeh AllahverdiThe Department of Physics and Astronomy is proud to announce that Rouzbeh Allahverdi has been promoted to Associate Professor (with Tenure).

Allahverdi's research focuses on the interconnections between cosmology and particle physics. The influx of high qualtiy cosmological data has enabled us to understand the universe and its evolution to high accuracy. We now know that only ~5% of the universe is described by the Standard Model of particle physics, while ~27% is made of dark matter, and the rest is in some mysterious form called dark energy.

Allahverdi works on fundamental questions such as the nature of dark matter, the origin of cosmic inflation, and generation of matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe. He studies models of particle physics beyond the Standard Model that can explain these pheomena, and can be tested by ongoing and upcoming experiments such as the Large Hadron Collider and dark matter direct and indirect detection searches.

Congratulations to Rouzbeh on this well-deserved promotion. We wish him a long and successful career in our department.
