Keynote Speaker

Katie Richardson, Ph.D., 2012 Physics, UNM
Group Manager, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center
National Renewable Energy Laboratory

Katie RichardsonKatie Richardson graduated with a PhD from PandA in 2012.  Under the guidance of Professor Rouzbeh Allahverdi, she studied indirect detection of signals in non-standard dark matter models.

She also became Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA) President for a year, during which time her interest in communicating science and science policy grew.

After graduating, she took on a position in Senator Heinrich’s office, eventually rising to its  State Science and Development Director, before moving to the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) in Golden, CO, where she is currently Group Manager of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

We have followed her career with interest and kept in touch with her, so when it came to choosing a speaker to give our Convocation Address this year, Katie was a natural choice.

You can see photos from our Convocation ceremony on our Facebook page.  We’re all curious to see where Katie will rise to next.
