Variational Quantum Semi-definite Programming
 Presenter:  Mark M. Wilde received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California. He is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University. He is an IEEE Fellow, he is a recipient of the National Science Foundation Career Development Award, he is a co-recipient of the 2018 AHP-Birkhauser Prize, awarded to “the most remarkable contribution” published in the journal Annales Henri Poincare, and he is an Outstanding Referee of the American Physical Society. His current research interests are in quantum Shannon theory, quantum computation, quantum optical communication, quantum computational complexity theory, and quantum error correction.

Opening the infrared treasure chest with JWST (or James Webb Space Telescope)
 Presenter:  Dr. John C. Mather is a Senior Astrophysicist in the Observational Cosmology Laboratory at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. His research centers on infrared astronomy and cosmology.

As Senior Project Scientist (95-present) for the James Webb Space Telescope, he leads the science team, and represents scientific interests within the project management. He has served on advisory and working groups for the National Academy of Sciences, NASA, and the NSF (for the ALMA, the Atacama Large Millimeter Array, and for the CARA, the Center for Astrophysical Research in the Antarctic).

He has received many awards including the Nobel Prize in Physics, 2006, for his precise measurements of the cosmic microwave background radiation using the COBE satellite.

Gravitational Waves: The Discovery that Won the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics
 Presenter:  Lynn Cominsky is a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Sonoma State University (SSU), where she has been on the faculty for over 35 years. She is an author on over 225 research papers in refereed journals, and is the founder and director of SSU’s EdEon STEM Learning (formerly known as the Education and Public Outreach Group), which develops educational materials for NASA, NSF and the US Department of Education. In 1993, Prof. Cominsky was named SSU’s Outstanding Professor, and the California Professor of the Year by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. She is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Current projects include NASA’s Neurodiversity Network (N3), which aims to develop resources and internships for teens on the autism spectrum and the development of an integrated ninth[1]grade CSTEM curriculum, branded as Learning by Making (LbyM), that has been funded by US Department of Education for the past decade.

“Quantum Biology”: how nature harnesses quantum processes to function optimally, and how might we control such quantum processes to therapeutic and tech advantage
 Presenter:  Clarice Aiello:



Dr. Clarice D. Aiello is a quantum engineer interested in how quantum physics informs biology at the nanoscale. She is an expert on nanosensors harnessing room-temperature quantum effects in noisy environments. Clarice received her B.S. in Physics from the Ecole Polytechnique; her M.Phil. in Physics from the University of Cambridge, Trinity College; and her Ph.D. from MIT in Electrical Engineering. She also held postdoctoral appointments in Bioengineering at Stanford, and in Chemistry at Berkeley. Two months before the pandemic, she joined UCLA, where she led the Quantum Biology Tech (QuBiT) Lab. Since Nov 2023, she is the CEO of a startup unsurprisingly named Quantum Biology Tech (QuBiT) Lab, and is writing the first-ever textbook about Quantum Biology.

 Presenter:  Alex Wood, P. G. As a hydrogeologist and professional geologist (Arizona), Alex Wood combines his extensive knowledge of western US geological provinces with geochemical and hydrological analysis techniques to evaluate a variety of water resource issues. Alex has a B.S. and M.S. in Geology from Northern Arizona University. Through his time as a researcher and environmental consultant, he has gained experience and expertise in watershed restoration, wetland & stream rehabilitation & restoration, post-fire hydrology, regional groundwater studies, evapotranspiration (ET) modeling, and more.  Presenter:  David Allison Ph.D., is Dean, Distinguished Professor, and Provost Professor at Indiana University–Bloomington School of Public Health. Continuously NIH-funded as a PI for over 25 years, he has authored more than 600 scientific publications. Awards include the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring (2006); the Friends of Albert (Mickey) Stunkard Lifetime Achievement Award (The Obesity Society, 2021); Elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2012, he also serves as co-chair of the National Academy of Sciences’ Strategic Council on Research Excellence, Integrity and Trust. Dr. Allison is a staunch advocate for rigor in research methods and the uncompromisingly truthful communication of research findings.
