Installation Instructions

All of the general access printers in the Physics and Astronomy Department are networked JetDirect printers. To add a networked printer to your computer, you need the IP number and the driver for the printer from the above table.

Click on the Driver Link to download the zipped driver file from the above table, and unzip it, noting the location.

Bring up the Printers and Faxes control panel dialog box

Select Add a printer

Select Local printer attached to this computer

--------- But do not check the box labeled Automatically detect

On the next page, select Create a new port of type Standard TCP/IPPort

Then on the page requesting Printer Name or IP Address enter the IP address from the above list.

When prompted for printer model, select Have Disk, then browse to the location of the unzipped driver file, and select OK.

If several models are available, choose the appropriate one, then select Next

When prompted

enter a name for the printer,

select Do not share,

choose as to whether or not to make this printer default,

and whether or not to print a test page.

Select Finish, and the computer will install the printer.
