Application of radioastronomy for space geodesy

Thursday March 28, 2019
2:00 pm

 Presenter:  Leonid Petrov (NASA)
Series:  Center for Astrophysics Research and Technologies Seminar Series
Abstract:  Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) is a technique that is successfully used for both astrophysics and space geodesy applications. Space geodesy with VLBI allows us to determine positions of observing stations and monitor their changes over time with millimeter accuracy. It is also possible to measure small changes in the Earth's rotation. I will provide an overview of NASA's VLBI space geodesy program.
 Host:  Gregory Taylor
 Location:  PAIS-2540, PAIS
