Abstract: |
Epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) materials have attracted attention in recent years as a new path for tailoring light-matter interactions at the nanoscale. In this talk, I will review some of the basic optical properties of ENZ materials and provide an overview on how these materials were exploited in several applications, including perfect absorption, ultrafast polarization switching, tunable metasurfaces, and high-speed optical modulators. Sandia National Laboratories is a multimission laboratory managed and operated by National Technology and Engineering Solutions of Sandia, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Honeywell International, Inc., for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration under contract DE-NA000352. |
