| Abstract: | The two detectors of the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) have recently observed a transient gravitational wave signal that matches general relativity prediction for the inspiral and merger of a pair of black holes. We discuss this first ever direct detection of gravitational waves and its importance. | |
