Toolbox for resonator-based quantum control

Thursday December 19, 2013
3:30 pm

 Presenter:  Fred Strauch, Williams College
 Series:  CQuIC Seminars
Abstract:  I will describe recent progress in developing a theoretical "toolbox" for manipulating quantum harmonic modes such as superconducting or nanomechanical resonators. These solid-state counterparts to traditional atomic cavity QED systems have matured and open up intriguing avenues for experiments on entanglement, metrology, and quantum information. I will discuss one old and several new theoretical approaches to controlling the quantum mechanical states of these systems, and their potential for experimental realization.
