Abstract: |
The strong interactions between cold Rydberg atoms provides an exciting avenue for the study of controlled light-interacting matter physics with applications to quantum information processing and many body physics with atoms, molecules and photons.
A regime of strongly interacting photons has been reached, in which the optical nonlinearity is mediated by van der Waals interactions between Rydberg atoms. I will briefly review recent developments and ideas in the field, before discussing our own research on the, recently demonstrated, fast single photons source. |
