Francisco Elohim Becerra-Chavez Promoted to Associate Professor; Ylva Pihlström and Rouzbeh Allahverdi Promoted to Professor

Francisco Elohim Becerra-Chavez

The Department of Physics and Astronomy is proud to announce that Francisco Elohim Becerra-Chavez has been given tenure and has been promoted to Associate Professor. Also, Ylva Pihlström and Rouzbeh Allahverdi have been promoted to Professor.

Dr. Becerra-Chavez joined the UNM Physics and Astronomy faculty in 2013. His areas of research are Quantum Optics, Nonlinear Optics, and Quantum Information.

Dr. Pihlström joined the UNM Physics and Astronomy faculty in 2005. Her areas of research are Active Galactic Nuclei, starburst galaxies, extragalactic and Galactic masers. Radio interferometry techniques including Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI). She is the Associate Director of the Center for Astrophysical Research and Technologies (CART).

Dr. Allahverdi joined the UNM Physics and Astronomy faculty in 2007. His areas of research are Particle physics and cosmology, Physics beyond the standard model, supersymmetry, inflation, dark matter, and lepto/baryogenesis.
