What is Happening with HIP 41378? A Decade of Discoveries

Within the 6000 confirmed exoplanets, less than 5% are in systems with 5 or more planets orbiting a host star, including HIP 41378. In this system, 5 planets were all discovered with K2 in 2015, all transiting within one observation cycle. Since then, HIP 41378 has been of great interest, and many studies have sought to explain the current architecture of the system. This is from the realization that the three outermost planets are very unique: one has only been observed once, one has a significant non-detection, and one whose density is similar to cotton candy (characterized as a “super puff”). I will go through the discoveries about HIP 41378, my connection and work with the system, and the future for the system.
