Quantum Design (QD), the manufacturer of UNM NanoFab's MPMS (Magnetic Property Measurement System), will hold a two-day in-person workshop at CHTM (chtm.unm.edu). Day 1 will be held on Sept 16th, 2026, 10:00 AM - 5 PM, and Day 2 (Hands-on sessions) will be on Sept 17th, 2026, 10 AM - Noon.

See the Flyer for the workshop with the agenda.

The workshop agenda comprises of internal UNM and external speakers (research, academia and industry) who will give talks on the basics of MPMS3 measurements, the workings and capabilities of the tool, and the wide-ranging applications of these characterization systems. The workshop is open to all, for all skill levels, and has no charge.

The QD MPMS tool at CHTM uses a Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) to measure the magnetic moment of samples with < 10-8 emu sensitivity; performing continuous measurements in the temperature range 1.8K < T < 400K in applied fields 0 < H < 70000 Oe and magnetic fields of 7Tesla (https://unmnanofab.unm.edu/service-center/mpms.html).

Please email me (Maya Narayanan Kutty) at mnkutty@unm.edu to register for this workshop. The seats are limited especially for Day 2 (Hands-on session) due to the limited space of the MPMS3 lab at CHTM. So, Day 2 will be conducted in batches.
