Transit of Mercury

Monday, November 11, 2019 8 am - 11 am

On Monday, November 11, 2019 a rare celestial event occurred.

Mercury, the closest planet to the Sun, passed between the Sun and Earth, visibly crossing the surface of the Sun from our viewpoint.

Mercury appeared as a small black dot moving across the face of the Sun. This type of event will not happen again in Albuquerque until 2032.

The UNM Campus Observatory was open for the public for this event.
