Printers at PAÍS

The printers listed here are for the use of Physics & Astronomy faculty, staff, and students. All printers are in a section of PAÍS that is limited to those with prox-card access working in the building. Need prox-card access? Please contact pais@unm.edu

Installation Instructions

For Windows 10 only

  1. Download drivers. After downloading the file, run it. It will ask to unzip files to a location. Choose a location and remember the path. You can copy the path to the clipboard.
  2. Open Control Panel and choose 'Devices and Printers’
  3. Choose 'add a printer’
  4. Let it search for a minute and then choose 'the printer I want wasn't listed’
  5. Choose 'Add a printer using an IP address or hostname' and click next
  6. Change device type to 'TCP/IP' device
  7. In the 'Hostname or IP address:' field, enter the printer IP and click next
  8. If the drivers are not already installed on your computer, click 'Have disk'
  9. In the dialog, enter the path to the drivers you unzipped, and then click 'Browse' next to it.
  10. Open the 'disk1' folder and choose the oemsetup file
(note, the dialog will NOT auto traverse nested folders. This means that if you point it only at the directory you unzipped everything to, it will not find the driver file. Instead, it must be pointed to the 'disk1' subfolder containing the 'oemsetup' driver file.
  11. After choosing the 'oemsetup' driver file, you will be returned to the driver interface asking you to pick a printer model. For Ricoh: There should be a list of Gestetner printer models. Scroll down in the right-hand pane to find the appropriate model printer, treating Gestetner as a synonym for Ricoh. For example, if you are adding the third floor Ricoh MP 3555, select the Gestetner MP 3555 and click next.

Poster Printer

The color printer, a Canon PRO-4100S, is in the print room on the second floor of PAÍS. It can print 36-inch prints on the short side. It is for Physics and Astronomy Department and Interdisciplinary Sciences-affiliated researchers to print research posters.

A typical research poster size of 36"x48" would be $51.

Your file should be formatted for portrait printing.

If your poster is wider than it is long, go to Edit/Rotate either clockwise or counterclockwise then save the file. Here is an example of what it should look like.

If we have to print it again due to an error in your file, we must charge for each print, so make sure your file is correctly formatted and spell-checked. We do not do laminations.

Print Instructions

  1. If you are a student, get an index number from your faculty advisor
  2. Fill out a Purchase Order form and submit it to the Physics and Astronomy Front Office in PAÍS 1180
  3. If you are an Interdisciplinary Sciences researcher, please check with Senior Operations Manager (Carla Sakiestewa) to get authorized to use the printer
  4. You may then work with PAÍS Facilities manager Chris Moroney to print your research poster from a .pdf file on your flash drive
