Application and Admissions Process

NOTE:  You must have an undergraduate degree in physics or its related field to enter the M.S. or the Ph.D. programs in Physics. Your undergraduate curriculum must have included upper-division courses in statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, quantum mechanics, and classical mechanics. Students must have earned a minimum of a 3.0 GPA (on a U.S. 4.0 scale) or comparable grade point average in upper-division (junior and senior level) work and in any graduate work already completed.

The Graduate Admissions Committee will begin reviewing completed application packages  for Fall admission on December 15 and will give full consideration to applications received by January 10.

IMPORTANT: No changes to your application through the online system are allowed once you enter your digital signature on the application and click the SUBMIT button.

Before you submit your application, be sure these required components are included in your application. All materials must be received before the committee will review the packet.

  • TOEFL or IELTS scores if applicable
  • ALL above scores must have been taken within the last two years
  • **Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, submission of the General GRE test as well as the Physics GRE subject test is not required exceptionally for consideration of the Fall 2021 admission. They are considered optional, which means that students may submit the results if they wish, but the absence of GRE scores will not be detrimental to the evaluation of an application.
