Magnetic fields and radio-gamma connection in 3C345

Presented by Jan Roeder, MPIfR Bonn

Following high gamma ray activity in 2009, a multi-wavelength VLBI follow-up observation of the quasar 3C345 will grant us new insight in the post-flare jet structure and magnetic fields. Motivated by recent, even more extreme gamma activity, we aim to confirm the results obtained by Schinzel et al. 2012 by analyzing recent 43 GHz VLBI data. Combining the observations in radio and gamma rays will help us assess which physical processes are the gamma ray emission, and where in the jet it originates from.
