Dark Matter and Baryogenesis with Early Matter Domination

Tuesday April 25, 2023

Series:  Nuclear, Particle, Astroparticle and Cosmology (NUPAC) Seminars
Abstract:  We propose a minimal extension of the Standard Model that involves 3 new fields: an iso-singlet color-triplet complex scalar field X and two Majorana fermions N and chi. X is the parent particle of N and can decay to the dark matter (DM) candidate chi thermally. N is a long-lived particle that drives an early matter domination (EMD) era and can decay to DM, chi, non-thermally. We obtain 4 main results: (1) We find the parameter space of the model that can guarantee the existence of an EMD era and match the observed DM relic abundance; (2) We show that the dominant contribution to DM abundance is from thermal production from X decay in the freeze-in regime; (3) The observed net baryon number in the Universe can be explained; (4) Our parameter space is consistent with experimental constraints.
