FCC, the accelerator for the 22nd Century - a window onto new physics in the heaviest quarks

Friday May 13, 2022
3:30 pm

 Presenter:  Radek Novotny, UNM
 Series:  Physics and Astronomy Colloquium
Abstract:  Existing worldwide particle accelerators provide us with an excellent tool for searches for new physics, and they have worked well in the completion of the Standard Model of particle physics, but they are reaching their limits, and we need to look into the future. This talk will discuss foreseen essential changes to existing accelerators, leading to concepts for the accelerators of the far future. The application of future accelerators, especially the proposed 100-km circumference Future Circular Collider, to searches for new physics, especially that revealed in phenomena of the heaviest quarks, will be described.
 Host:  Sally Seidel
 Location:  PAIS-1100, PAIS
