Julia with applications in microscopy using GPUs and interactive notebooks

Friday October 22, 2021
2:00 pm

 Presenter:  Dr. Keith Lidke (UNM)
 Series:  Computational Physics Seminar
Abstract:  The Julia language was designed and developed (and is still under active development) by scientist for scientific computation.  I will give an introduction to the main features of Julia and explain why I 'skipped' Python and went straight from MATLAB to Julia. I'll make some comparisons to MATLAB and Python (although I'm not an expert in Python).   I'll also give an overview of developing code in Julia, which will include topics related to github, vscode, Jupyter notebooks, and interactive Pluto notebooks. Finally, I'll show a few of our ongoing development projects involving Julia packages.

Please contact the host for the password if you would like to join the seminar through Zoom.
