New Techniques for Finding New Physics at the LHC

Tuesday April 27, 2021
2:00 pm

 Presenter:  Easwar Narayanan (UNM)
Series:  Nuclear, Particle, Astroparticle and Cosmology (NUPAC) Seminars
Abstract:  Measurements at the LHC involving CP-violation in B-mesons are likely to achieve record-breaking precision due to the very high statistical samples that are becoming available. At the same time the enormous datasets pose challenges to effective triggering at low momentum, and the high fluence due to the large number of collision events leads to radiation damage which can degrade the detector performance unless mitigated. This talk is an overview of several ATLAS studies linked to CP-violation, triggering, and radiation damage monitoring.
 Host:  Sally Seidel
 Location:  Zoom
