Demonstrates: Quantum tunneling effect
Description: A microwave is sent through a plexiglass prism. Initially the receiver will not be able to pick up the microwave, but as a second prism is brought close to the first, the receiver will pick up more of the wave.
Instructions: Setup microwave transmitter and prism such that the microwave is totally internally reflected. Setup a second prism (with receiver adjacent) a short distance away. Bring second prism close to first. Receiver will pick up more of the wave the smaller the gap between prisms.
Items Used: Microwave transmitter and receiver, large prisms.
