Professor Jean-Claude Diels and Dr. Ladan Arissian Win a 2013 CHOICE Award for Outstanding Academic Titles
Every year, Choice subject editors single out for recognition the most significant print and electronic works reviewed in Choice during the previous calendar year. Appearing annually in Choice's January issue, this prestigious list of publications reflects the best in scholarly titles and attracts extraordinary attention from the academic library community.
Lasers: The Power and Precision of Light was chosen in the Engineering category. The book is coherently focused on fundamentals, and is aimed to stimulate intuition about present and future applications, while unveiling the halo of myths around lasers. Written by reputable laser experts, Diels and Arissian think that science should be entertaining. This useful reference relies on simple analogies and illustrations rather than complex mathematics, and is suitable for students and end-users of laser technologies, including novices.
Congratulations to Jean-Claude and Ladan!
