General relativity with fermions: Lorentz invariance

Presented by Kevin Cahill UNM

The action of general relativity with fermions is invariant under two independent symmetries --- general coordinate invariance and local Lorentz invariance.  The average values of the tetrads in empty space are unchanged when these symmetry transformations are the same Lorentz transformation.  This is what we call Lorentz invariance in quantum field theory.

If the squares of the covariant derivatives of the tetrads appear in the hamiltonian, then all six Lorentz bosons get the same mass.
