Presented by Michael Turner is the Bruce V. and Diana M. Rauner Distinguished Service Professor; Director of the National Science Foundation's Physics Frontiers Centers at Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics, University of Chicago's Departments of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Physics; Enrico Fermi Institute

The third paradigm will stand upon the strong shoulders of the first two, the hot big-bang model and ΛCDM. After discussing the exciting state of cosmology today, I focus on the issues that the third paradigm must address, what its aspirations should be, and how it might be initiated.
