There and back again (and again and again): bosonic modular subsystem codes

Presented by Ben Baragiola, RMIT University

Bosonic error-correcting codes are an exciting alternative to qubit-based codes for the protection of quantum information. I will review the two major bosonic code families, displacement-based codes and rotation-based codes, and discuss fault-tolerant universality for both. Then, using their inherent discrete symmetries I will show how we can generalize both code families to "modular subsystem codes".
