Neutrino Flavor Conversions in Dense Medium: Matter Stimulation, Dispersion Relation, and Neutrino Halo

I will discuss two important topics of neutrino oscillations. The first topic is neutrino oscillations in dense matter. Neutrinos propagating through dense matter interacts with the matter background and the neutrino oscillations are altered. Such oscillations have been extensively researched. In this talk, I will provide a new point of view, which interprets neutrino oscillations using Rabi oscillations. The second topic is neutrino oscillations in dense neutrino media, where neutrino self-interaction leads to the nonlinear evolution of neutrino flavors. Though nonlinear, the equation of motion can be analyzed through linear stability analysis where we investigate the collective frequencies and collective wave vectors. Izaguirre et al developed a formalism of dispersion relation of the collective frequencies and wave vectors and proposed to establish a connection between dispersion relation gaps and large flavor growth. I will show that this conclusion is incomplete.
