Quantum Bayesian measurement of qubits: recent results

Within the past decade, experiments on partial and continuous quantum measurement of superconducting qubits have been realized in many groups. Monitoring of quantum trajectories has become a routine experiment. This talk will discuss the theory used in most of these experiments: the quantum Bayesian approach to the measurement of solid-state qubits. I will first discuss the main idea of the formalism and then focus on some recent results. These will include the theory of continuous qubit measurement using a moderate-bandwidth resonator, simultaneous measurement of non-commuting observables of a qubit, Bacon-Shor code operated with continuous measurements, and the emergence of an arrow of time in continuous qubit measurement.
