Steering, Adiabatic Theorem and Perspectives

In this talk, I will present my current research in quantum information, which covers two main topics: (i) steering and quantum correlations (ii) adiabatic theorem and adiabatic computing. I will also take the opportunity to comment on the perspectives for work should I join the CQuIC.

Steering is a hybrid kind of quantum correlation, intermediate to the better-known entanglement and Bell nonlocality. The difference between the three can be understood in terms of device independence and/or trust in the parties involved. A resource theory of steering has been founded recently, and we are contributing to develop it further. We have worked on the relationship of steering to the other kinds of quantum correlations as well as on protocols manipulating steering, such as distillation and (super-)activation.

The adiabatic theorem is a topic of quantum mechanics which has gained considerable interest since the rise of adiabatic computing. Whereas its textbook formulation guarantees perfect fidelity only for infinitely slow driving, practical applications need results for finite driving times, usually in the form of runtime-error tradeoff relations. We have improved on previous such relations in the literature, using advantageously the freedom implied by adiabatic computing and presenting both lower and upper bounds on the error for a given runtime.
