Experimental Limits on Cosmic-Ray Boosted Dark Matter

Tuesday January 31, 2023
2:00 pm

 Presenter:  Prof. Rouzbeh Allahverdi (UNM)
Series:  Nuclear, Particle, Astroparticle and Cosmology (NUPAC) Seminars
Abstract:  Attempts to directly detect dark matter (DM) particles in conventional detectors are known to suffer from the loss of sensitivity at or below the GeV range. It has been realized in recent years that a subdominant but highly energetic component of DM, due to collisions with cosmic rays, can improve the detection prospects. The Super-Kamiokande experiment has recently set the most stringent limits on cosmic-ray boosted DM. I will discuss these results in more detail.
