Atomic processing: now with more qubits

Thursday October 13, 2022
3:30 pm

 Presenter:  Wes Campbell (UCLA)
 Series:  CQuIC Seminars
Abstract:  Atomic quantum processors typically employ 2 internal states of each ion for quantum information storage and processing, effectively ignoring a plethora of potentially useful atomic states that come free with each atom. This is a waste of (Hilbert) space. I'll discuss some ideas for using these states to overcome technical limitations in these systems, including processing with multiple qubits per atom
 Host:  Ivan Deutsch
 Location:  PAIS-2540, PAIS
