VLBI of the Galactic centre; maser stars around the supermassive black hole

Thursday November 12, 2020
2:00 pm

 Presenter:  Huib van Langevelde, JIVE/Leiden
Series:  Center for Astrophysics Research and Technologies Seminar Series
Abstract:  Compared to the M87 black hole, SgrA* is a target for the Event Horizon Telescope for which several fundamental parameters are much better constrained. This is because stars can be detected at the galactic centre, through infrared, but possibly also maser emission. In this talk I will consider the options to constrain the astrometry and interstellar scattering of SgrA* when VLBI with ALMA will include spectral line capabilities.
 Host:  Ylva Pihlstrom
 Location:  Zoom
