Abstract: |
Trapped ions are at the forefront of quantum information technology having demonstrated high-fidelity operations, flexibility in control, and full connectivity. Microfabricated surface electrode ion traps offer a clear advantage by enabling the classical control necessary to manipulate long chains of ions. We work on creating the next generation surface electrode trap for improving functionality and control of ion qubits. I will discuss our work on fabricating and using these devices, where we investigate techniques to improve detection and manipulation of trapped ion qubits. *This material was funded in part by the U.S. DOE, Office of Science, ASCR Quantum Testbed Program and by the Offices of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), IARPA. Sandia National Labs is managed and operated by NTESS, a subsidiary of Honeywell International, for the U.S. DOE's NNSA under contract DE-NA0003525. |
