Characterization of an Imaging Spectrometer

Thursday October 26, 2017
11:00 am

Presenter:  Dr. Stephanie Schieffer Principal Investigator for the Optical Calibration Laboratory, AFRL
 Series:  OSE Seminars
Abstract:  Imaging spectrometers, also known as hyperspectral imagers, capture spectra for each imaging pixel in a scene. The resulting data cube can be exploited to monitor chemical output of coal and oil-fired power plants, municipal and hazardous waste incinerators, and to determine agricultural health and early indications of disease and drought of farmland. Full exploitation of the data requires exquisite sensor characterization that goes beyond traditional imaging calibration approaches. This talk will discuss techniques for radiometric, spatial, and spectral characterization as well as methods for quantifying and correcting for spectral scattering of photons.
Location:  Room 103, Center for High Tech Materials
