Abstract: | Experiments planned to measure the electric dipole moment of the neutron use homogeneous electric and magnetic fields. This research describes progress in developing sensors to measure the fields d on nitrogen vacancy centers in diamonds. NV diamonds have spectroscopic properties that allow them to be used to measure vector components of local magnetic and electric fields. Most of the work that I will present uses a technique called optically-detected magnetic resonance, although the ultimate goal is to use an all-optical technique. Issues include the apparent destruction of NV centers in electric fields. | |
