Abstract: | There is a Cambrian-like explosion of telescope capabilities underway in the low frequency radio sky, driven by technological advances and a strong science case. All-sky surveys are a major component of any new low frequency facility. I will describe the challenges faced in carrying out such surveys and I will present the results of the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) all-sky radio survey at 150 MHz. This survey used 2000 hrs of GMRT time from 2010 to 2012 to survey 90% of the sky north of -53 declination. The survey was fully-reduced and recently released into the public domain. I will illustrate the capabilities of the survey by talking about several early science results. | |
