Supersymmetry as a Fundamental Symmetry of Nature

Tuesday October 25, 2016
2:00 pm

 Presenter:  Rouzbeh Allahverdi, UNM
Series:  Nuclear, Particle, Astroparticle and Cosmology (NUPAC) Seminars
Abstract:  Supersymmetry is a remarkable subject that has fascinated particle physicists since it was originally introduced. In the simplest realization of this Bose-Fermi symmetry, the number of elementary particles in nature is doubled. At a fundamental level, supersymmetry algebras are the only generalization of the Poincare algebra that are consistent with relativistic quantum field theory. I will present a qualitative discussion of this important result.
 Location:  PAIS-2540, PAIS
