The Current Status of Particle Theory Models

Tuesday March 17, 2015
2:00 pm

Presenter:  Bhaskar Dutta, Texas A&M; University
Series:  Nuclear, Particle, Astroparticle and Cosmology (NUPAC) Seminars
Abstract:  The recent results from the ongoing Large Hadron Collider, various direct and indirect dark matter detection experiments and data from PLANCK satellite observations have introduced considerable constraints on the particle physics model ideas. The impact of these constraints on the understanding of the outstanding issues like the origin of dark matter, origin of electroweak symmetry breaking scale, rapid expansion of the early universe, more baryons than anti-baryons, the coincidence of baryon and dark matter abundances etc. need to be explored. This talk will address the current status of these issues in the context of the surviving particle physics models and their predictions.
 Host:  Rouzbeh Allahverdi
 Location:  PAIS-2540, PAIS
