Abstract: | In the quest to discover the identity of dark matter, the Sun is a valuable tool. If dark matter particles are gravitationally captured by the Sun, their annihilation would be enhanced by orders of magnitude due to a much larger dark matter density. In a well-motivated class of models, dark matter directly annihilates into neutrinos. The consequences of this scenario for solar annihilation of dark matter have not been explored yet in detail. In this talk, I will discuss the prospect for detection of prompt neutrinos from dark matter annihilation in the Sun at neutrino telescopes. I will show that, in comparison with other annihilation channels, prompt neutrinos present unique and very interesting challenges. | |
