Quantum Control: A Circuit-Based Classification

Carlton Caves, University of New Mexico

(Session 2 : Thursday from 2:15 - 2:45)

Abstract. Control of the behavior of quantum systems, to make them do what we want them to do, instead of just what comes naturally, is fundamental to quantum information science. I will discuss a classification scheme that divides control and feedback techniques into three types: measurement-based control and feedback; coherent control and feedback; and quantum (noncommutative) control and feedback. The classification is based on how these techniques are represented in quantum-circuit diagrams and will be illustrated by examples.
