Atomic magnetometers in sub-fT regime

Michael Romalis, Princeton University

(Session : Thursday from )

Abstract. I will describe recent progress in high-sensitivity alkali-metal magnetometers. In addition to improving the intrinsic sensitivity of the sensors, significant effort has been devoted to eliminating external sources of magnetic noise. Modeling techniques for estimating various magnetic field noise contributions have been developed. Some of the current and future applications of ultra-sensitive magnetometers in atto-Tesla range will also be discussed.
