Muon Tracking Detectors at PHENIX (MuTr)

The PHENIX experiment at RHIC has forward muon spectrometers on both sides ("north" and "south") of the interaction point whose aim is to provide momentum, charge and paricle identification (muon vs. pion) for large absolute rapidities. In order to attain this, three large acceptance tracking stations are embedded in a radial field magnet, followed by a large absorber/hit detector stack for muon identification. The first of these large area tracking stations was developed and built by our group at UNM.
